Subject: We have a new Scout Executive!

On this, the coldest, snowiest, nastiest day of the year (so far), Council President Steve Mason shook hands with Jeff Woolsey, Scout Executive of the Aloha Council, Honolulu, Hawaii, to welcome Jeff as the Last Frontier Council's new Scout Executive.

I had the privilege of serving on the selection committee with other Scouting and community leaders, and I can tell you without hesitation that we had an outstanding group of finalists to interview today. Jeff Woolsey is, by every measure, an outstanding Scouting professional.

Jeff grew up in Portland, Texas (near Corpus Christi). He is an Eagle Scout, the son of a Scoutmaster, Wood Badge trained and a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. Jeff and his wife, Metechia, have three children, two boys and a girl.

Jeff started his Scouting career as a District Executive in Houston 24 years ago. Following his service as a DE, he has served as a Senior District Executive (Houston), Field Director and Camp Director (Houston), Director of Field Service (Columbus, Ohio), Director of Annual Giving (Houston), Vice President of Development Service (Houston) and Scout Executive (Honolulu). Jeff used to be a great (NCAA Division I) tennis player, but he admits that now he can't run backward as fast as he once could.

Jeff has been successful in meeting every challenge he has addressed as a professional Scouter. He is eager to learn about our council, its volunteers, its professional and support staff, its properties and its supporters, both on the board and in the larger community. He fully appreciates the importance of the role of our Commissioners in unit service and in seeing to it that every youth has the benefit of a quality Scouting program. I can assure you that Jeff will waste no time getting up to speed. His first day at the LFC will be Monday, March 1. At 7:00 the very next morning, he will be presented to our community of financial supporters at the Annual Character Counts Breakfast.

I am delighted with the outcome of this selection process, and I am confident that you will be, too.

Please pass the word.

Yours in Scouting,

Steve Friot

Council Commissioner
